Turnitin - Faculty Information
Turnitin is now integrated with E-Learning. If you have a E-Learning account, you do not need a separate Turnitin account and do not need to fill out the Turnitin Request Form. It is much simpler for you and your students to use Turnitin within E-Learning. See "Turnitin Within E-Learning" for instructions.

Before you can begin using the Turnitin service, you must complete two basic steps:
- Fill out the online form to request use of Turnitin. You will receive an email notifying you when you account has been set up with turnitin. The Office of Academic Technology is taking care of creating your basic Turnitin account and affiliating your account with the UF institutional license on your behalf.
- When you login to your account, you must create at least one course account before you can submit papers for review. You can create as many course accounts as you wish. If you plan to only upload the occasional paper that you suspect of plagiarism, a single course account may be adequate. If you are planning to routinely submit a large number of papers to this service, you may want to create a Turnitin course account for each course that you teach. This will help with long-term management of information. If you are planning to make use of Turnitin features such as peer review, you will definitely want to create different course accounts for each class. [see section 2.1 in the Instructor's Manual]
When you create a class, you will receive a password for that class. If you wish students to submit assignments in that class, you will need to distribute the class enrollment password to your students so that they can join your class.
Within each class you will then need to create one or more assignments. Note that when students are submitting their assignments for review, they can only submit once to each assignment that you create. So in some cases you may want to create more than one online assignment category for a particular in-class submission (e.g. Research Paper Draft, Research Paper Final Submission). [see section 2.2 in the Instructor's Manual]

Note: Faculty should have a clear understanding of plagiarism and should know the UF judicial process for dealing with students whom they believe to be guilty of plagiarism. The Dean of Students Office maintains Academic Honesty site with which instructors should be familiar.
