When a student uploads a file (say a WORD document or Excel spreadsheet) is it automatically scanned for viruses?
Sakai does not have any built in virus scanning functionality. It is the users responsibility to scan files before uploading anything to Sakai.
McAfee VirusScan is free to download for all students and faculty: http://software.ufl.edu/mcafee/index.html
Information on UF Student Computing Requirements can be found here: http://training.helpdesk.ufl.edu/computing.shtml
Answer provided by Carl Perry. Mike Stoufer did not have any knowledge of our instance of Sakai having any virus scanning.
