====Relative URL Pointing At Course ID Instead Of Group ID Takes Student To Other Institution====
+
-
*''System'': Canvas

*''System:'' Canvas
*''System:'' Canvas

*''Problem:'' By default, students can edit and delete their own Discussion posts. Instructors have the ability to turn off this ability to going to 'Settings' and unchecking the boxes beside these featuresBUT, this does not affect Discussions that are given to groups. Students have full authority within their groups and it is not possible to take away their ability to edit and delete their own posts.

====Student Group Discussion Posts/Replies Are Posted Outside Group====

===People with a large number of enrollments cannot use the More Courses option===
*''System:'' Canvas
*''System:'' Canvas
-
*''Problem:'' If a Student replies or posts to a group discussion from their mobile app, it will post to the main discussion instead of the group discussion.
+
*''Problem:'' If users are enrolled in a large number of courses, they will see a severe lag in the time it takes to be able to use the "More courses" option when trying to send an email. It can take up to 5 minutes for all of the enrollments to load.
-
*''Workaround:'' Posting to a group discussion should be done through the mobile browser or desktop/laptop computer until this issue is resolved.

*''Workaround:''If possible, reduce enrollments. You can also wait for the enrollments to load, or use the courses drop down in the left hand corner to specify the course before you attempt to send a message.

===Imported File Structure Lost After Initial Deletion===
+
-
*''System:'' Canvas
+
-
*''Problem:'' When attempting to copy exported course files into a new course, the file/folder structure did not remain intact. All file content imports correctly the first time it is imported; however, if the files are subsequently deleted from the course, and then re-imported, that is when they are loaded into an "Unfiled" folder. This is because Canvas is essentially un-deleting the files that were previously imported, and that had been disassociated with their assigned folder when they were deleted. Whenever files are un-deleted within the system, they are automatically added to an Unfiled folder to be manually moved to another folder if needed. While this is currently the expected behavior of the system, to move un-deleted files to an Unfiled folder, this can cause problems with Articulate files, HTML files, and related content that must be in the correct folder in order to work.
+
-
*''Workaround:'' Manually move the files back into the correct file/folders structure.

====Documentation Incorrect For Importing CSV Files====
+
====Differentiated assignment due dates====
*''System'': Canvas
*''System'': Canvas
-
*''Problem:'' When a user goes to upload a csv into the Gradebook and you select the help option "What should the CSV file look like?" on the upload pop-up, it takes you to an example image of what is required in the csv in order for it to be uploaded. The problem is this image is outdated. It contains a bubble right above "Section" that states "Optional, Ignored." This leads the user to believe that the section column is not required in the csv. But if they attempt to upload the csv without the section column they get an error and have to add that column.
+
*''Problem:'' When using differentiated assignments, the due date shows as "Due Multiple Due Dates" instead of the due date for the specific student.
-
*''Workaround:'' Section is not optional and must be included. Required columns include: Student ID, SIS User ID, SIS Login ID, Section, Existing Assignment (###) OR A New Assignment (if you want to create a new one in the new file outside of Canvas).
+
*''Workaround:'' Due dates can be viewed on the Assignment page before entering Speedgrader.

-
*''Problem:'' Materials within locked Files folders are not viewable when attempting to add them to Modules.
+

Workaround: Go to Gradebook, filter by section (if there is more than one section associated with the course), then choose Speedgrader from the Gradebook. This should cut down on the number of students pulled into Speedgrader at once which should allow Speedgrader to load properly.
-
*''Workaround:'' Move the file to a folder that is visible when added to a module. Another option would be to add the file directly to the module if the files are on the computer. You can do this by selecting the + icon for the module, change the drop down to file, and then choosing the first option which is "New File." This will give you the option to upload a file into the module.

====Manually Assigning Students To Groups 'Unassigned Students' List Not Displaying Remainder====
+
===Conferences with lengthy descriptions broken in Chrome browser===
*''System:'' Canvas
*''System:'' Canvas
-
*''Problem:'' With larger courses, moving students manually into groups creates a lag in the "Unassigned Students" list. The list appears to be refreshing (double arrows) once all visible students have been grouped, however, this process appears to hang. The title of the list denotes there are additional students that are unassigned, i.e. "Unassigned Students (37)", but this list never repopulates on its own.
+
*''Problem:'' If a conference is created with a lengthy description, the "start" button disappears preventing anyone from joining the conference The edit option is also gone so that the instructor cannot remove the description.
-
*''Workaround:'' You can refresh your browser page or you can navigate away from the group set page and then come back to it. Both options should prompt the display of any remainder students.
+
*''Workaround:'' Keep the descriptions short (a few words) or don't use one at all. If you already have the problem, use FF browser to edit the description.
-
*''Status:'' Under investigation by Canvas Engineers.

*''Status:'' Shelved - Instructure has deemed that the workaround should be used.

====Manipulation of Quiz Answer Radio Button Upon Review====

*''Problem:'' When a user is reviewing their answers, especially in the case of incorrect answers, the radio button choice appears to be fixed (selected) and a red "You Answered" along with a red outline around the answer appears. The correct answer is denoted by the colorless and/or grey "Correct Answer". If a user clicks on the text of another answer, the radio button is changed. A user could then take a screenshot as purported evidence that the system has incorrectly marked their answer. This does not impact the actual recorded answer and the manipulation will revert upon refreshing of the page.

''Problem:'' If a course has differentiated assignments so that some students aren't required to complete some assignments, AND "mark ungraded as zero" is chose, AND the grades are exported, the gradebook then displays incorrectly to the instructor. After the export, the gradebook is counting those differentiated assignments that should not count against the student as zero, dropping the students' grades. ====Odd Point Values When Grading Quizzes====

====Quiz Index Page Round up Total Number of Points====
-
*''System'': Canvas
+
*''System:'' Canvas
-
*''Problem:'' When you have two question groups both pulling from the same question bank, but for different point values, this causes a situation where Canvas is giving the same question and getting confused with different results.
+
*''Problem:'' If a quiz has a total number of points as decimal, for example, 3.5, that number gets rounded up (4 in this case) on the Quiz index page. (The quiz total point is reported and calculated correctly in the gradebook though.)
-

====MP3 Media Files In Quiz Not Converting====
+
====Disappearing Students in "Assign to" Section of Practice Quizzes====
-
*''System'': Canvas
+
*''System:'' Canvas
-
*''Problem:'' Imported MP3 media files within quizzes say "Audio file is being converted, check back later" when a user attempts to play them, however, the files never actually complete the conversion.
+
*''Problem:'' In practice quizzes, students in the "Assign to" field may disappear (if the instructor is assigning to individual students) resulting in practice quizzes assigned to no one. Usually the students will disappear about five minutes after saving the settings of the practice quiz.
-
*''Workaround:'' Instructors, if you encounter this issue, please contact e-Learning Support Services at (352)392-4357 option 3 or by e-mail at learning-support@ufl.edu with the URL to the specific media file in order to work with the Canvas Engineers to identify any issues with that file.
+
*''Workaround:'' The first workaround is to assign the practice quiz to everyone within the course. The second workaround is to change the quiz type to a "Graded Quiz" and then assign the quiz to the students taking the quiz.
-
*''Status:'' Under investigation by Canvas Engineers.
+
*''Status:'' Shelved

====Number Of Questions Given Differ From Settings====
+
-
*''System'': Canvas
+
-
*''Problem:'' We have reports of one course, where on a quiz setup to give a 20 question quiz, a couple of students received 7 questions and the rest received 20 questions. In addition, it appears that seven test students and two real students started the quiz at the exact same time. Instructors, if you encounter this issue, please contact e-Learning Support Services at (352)392-4357 option 3 or by e-mail at learning-support@ufl.edu with so that we can work with the Canvas Engineers.
+
-
*''Workaround:'' None currently. However, it is best practice to avoid editing question banks on live quizzes.

*''Status:'' Under investigation by Canvas Engineers.

====Designer Role is Unable to View Unpublished Content====
+
-
*''System'': Canvas
+
-
*''Problem:'' We've verified that folks in the Designer role are currently unable to view Unpublished course content. This is in direct relation to Canvas' work on permissions.
+
-
*''Workaround:'' We suggest these folks use the Facilitator role. Canvas has suggested "For now, the only workaround is for designers or whoever may be setting up the course to immediately publish any assignments they are working on, as this will make them available for further updates."

====Unable To Download Canvas App For Nook HD (Android 4.0.4) From PlayStore====

-
*''System'': Canvas

-
*''Problem:'' When using a Nook HD (Android 4.0.4) users are unable to download the Canvas app from the Play Store. Users receive an incompatibility error when attempting to download and are unable to install the app. According to the system specifics guide, the OS is compatible. The Nook HD does not have a camera, and the Canvas app requires permission to access a camera within the Android device. This is causing a point of contention.

-
*''Workaround:'' Use mobile browser or desktop/laptop computer until this issue is resolved.

-
*''Status:'' Under investigation by Canvas engineers.

=====Cannot See Groups Only Individual Students=====

-
*''System'': Canvas

-
*''Problem:'' Teachers are unable to see groups in the iOS SpeedGrader app on iOS 7.x and higher, only individual students. This results in grading difficulties.

-
*''Workaround:'' Grading should be done through the mobile browser or desktop/laptop computer until this issue is resolved.

======Change In Provisioning File Name======

-
*''System'': Canvas

-
*''Problem:'' A sudden unexpected change in the provisioning file name output contains ''\u0026verifier='' rather than ''&verifier='' causes local issues.

===Gradebook displays incorrectly for courses with differentiated assignments after exporting grades with "mark ungraded as zero" chosen=== System: Canvas Problem: If a course has differentiated assignments so that some students aren't required to complete some assignments, AND "mark ungraded as zero" is chose, AND the grades are exported, the gradebook then displays incorrectly to the instructor. After the export, the gradebook is counting those differentiated assignments that should not count against the student as zero, dropping the students' grades. NOTE: Students view of their grades is not affected. Workaround: Clear cache and cookies in your browser to reset the gradebook to it's correct view Status: Under investigation by Canvas Engineers.
