Assignments
"Assign To" Field Shows "Loading" instead of Student Name
- System: Canvas
- Problem: This happens based on the number of enrollments in the course and where they are listed in the list of enrollments. In testing, it would fail after 200th enrollment. So, any user you try to assign an assignment to after the 200th will show up as 'Loading...' as it seems Canvas times out after loading 200 enrollments. This does seem to only be a UI bug though as it does correctly assign them to the users and speedgrader shows correctly.
- Workaround: None.
- Status: Resolved in the March 12 update.

Course
Files
Imported File Structure Lost After Initial Deletion [RESOLVED]
- System: Canvas
- Problem: When attempting to copy exported course files into a new course, the file/folder structure did not remain intact. All file content imports correctly the first time it is imported; however, if the files are subsequently deleted from the course, and then re-imported, that is when they are loaded into an "Unfiled" folder. This is because Canvas is essentially un-deleting the files that were previously imported, and that had been disassociated with their assigned folder when they were deleted. Whenever files are un-deleted within the system, they are automatically added to an Unfiled folder to be manually moved to another folder if needed. While this is currently the expected behavior of the system, to move un-deleted files to an Unfiled folder, this can cause problems with Articulate files, HTML files, and related content that must be in the correct folder in order to work.
- Workaround: Manually move the files back into the correct file/folders structure.
- Status: A fix has been implemented by Canvas Engineers 6/29/15.

Documentation Incorrect For Importing CSV Files [RESOLVED]
- System: Canvas
- Problem: When a user goes to upload a csv into the Gradebook and you select the help option "What should the CSV file look like?" on the upload pop-up, it takes you to an example image of what is required in the csv in order for it to be uploaded. The problem is this image is outdated. It contains a bubble right above "Section" that states "Optional, Ignored." This leads the user to believe that the section column is not required in the csv. But if they attempt to upload the csv without the section column they get an error and have to add that column.
- Workaround: Section is not optional and must be included. Required columns include: Student ID, SIS User ID, SIS Login ID, Section, Existing Assignment (###) OR A New Assignment (if you want to create a new one in the new file outside of Canvas).

Manually Assigning Students To Groups 'Unassigned Students' List Not Displaying Remainder [RESOLVED]

- System: Canvas
- Problem: With larger courses, moving students manually into groups creates a lag in the "Unassigned Students" list. The list appears to be refreshing (double arrows) once all visible students have been grouped, however, this process appears to hang. The title of the list denotes there are additional students that are unassigned, i.e. "Unassigned Students (37)", but this list never repopulates on its own.

Roles

Designer Role is Unable to View Unpublished Content [RESOLVED]

- System: Canvas
- Problem: We've verified that folks in the Designer role are currently unable to view Unpublished course content. This is in direct relation to Canvas' work on permissions.
- Workaround: We suggest these folks use the Facilitator role. Canvas has suggested "For now, the only workaround is for designers or whoever may be setting up the course to immediately publish any assignments they are working on, as this will make them available for further updates."
- Status: A fix has been implemented by Canvas Engineers 9/29/14.

- System: Canvas
- Problem: Students who DROP a course are still showing as being in the course (within Canvas) if they were added to a manually-created section prior to DROP. Currently, the DROP/ADD process runs against the registrar sections and updates those, however, it does not run against the manually-created sections that were created through myUFL.
- Workaround: Manually remove the students from the myUFL created sections. If you have large numbers of students or are unsure, please contact Learning Support Services at 352-392-4357 option 3 or e-mail us at learning-support@ufl.edu
- Status: UFIT has fixed this issue.
