Unable to Download PDFs in Firefox and Chrome
- Problem: After a recent Adobe update, some PDFs will not open within Firefox and Chrome. This problem happens anywhere on the internet, not just in Sakai.
- Workaround: You can right-click the name of the file and open it on your computer, or you can use Internet Explorer, or you can use this Firefox Plug-in.
- Status: Many people now have the plug-in installed and so this issue is not as common. --Jolaine 10:40, 15 April 2011 (EDT)
Users in e-Learning Cannot Change Gatorlink Username
- Problem: e-Learning users cannot change their gatorlink username due to a conflicting account being created.
- Workaround: There is no workaround. Username cannot be changed at this time.
- Status: Possible resolution at some point in the Fall semester.
Content Editor Freezes in Internet Explorer 9
- Problem: When insert buttons are clicked in FCKEditor using IE9, the insert window opens but appears blank and frozen. There is no way to close or cancel the window without logging out of Sakai. This occurs in the following options: Insert Link, Insert Flash object, Insert Image, Entity picker , Insert Table, Insert Special Characters, Insert Smiley, Insert Anchor. View screenshot.
- Workaround: Use a different browser when using the rich text editor, for example Firefox or IE 8. Internet Explorer 9 is not a supported browser at this time, so avoid upgrading until this issue is solved. See Instructions for removing IE9 and restoring IE8.
- Status: Resolved in the planned release for August 9, "Ariel." --Jolaine 14:29, 26 August 2011 (EDT)
Unable to See "Exit Student View"
- Problem: The New skin implemented has a minor issue that occurs if you use the "View Site As . . " option. You will not be able to see "Exit Student View" text due to the text being white and the skin being light gray. On some monitors, you may be able to see the text faintly.
- Workaround: Place your mouse pointer over the region where the "Exit Student View" normally appears (top right hand side) and click when the mouse pointer image changes to a hand, or highlight the region so that you will see the "Exit Student View" text. Please see screen shot for additional details.
- Status: Resolved

Unable to Open PPT Files
- Problem: After the November 16, 2010 Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007, PowerPoint files that have spaces in the file names will not open within Sakai.
- Workaround: Instructors should replace spaces in the file names with - or _. Also, these files will open in "Open Office."
- Status: No further occurrences are seen.
Content Editor
Content Editor Not Available in Discussions and Mail Tools
- Problem: The Content Editor is no longer available in the Discussions tool and the Mail tool.
- Workaround: One can only use simple text until this is corrected.
- Status: Resolved!

Assessments
LockDown Browser issues in Assessments
- Problem: We have noticed some problematic behavior in Assessments when used with Respondus LockDown Browser. In Assessments, if the "force completion" option is enabled, students will be locked out from the quiz entirely. In Assessments, there is no way to currently force completion of quizzes.
- Workaround: In Assessments, we encourage you not to enable the "force completion" option. This option is currently not functional.
- Status: Under investigation. --Rayne 11:14, 5 October 2012 (EDT)
Assessments with .jpg images will not import from one course to another
- Problem: Assessments with .jpg images in them will generate a "bug error" message if you try to import them from one course to another. The assessment functions as expected in the original course, but cannot be imported.
- Workaround: Replace the .jpg images with .png or .gif prior to importing the assessment.
- Status: Under Investigation. --Jolaine 11:55, 1 September 2011 (EDT)
Assignments
Instructor Comments in the Assignments Shows HTML Tags
- Problem: When a grader leaves comments for the student in the "comments" box, the student sees HTML coding in the text.
- Workaround: If the student submission was made using the "inline" submission box, the instructor can post comments by putting her/his comments in { {double curly brackets } }. The instructor comments appear in red to the student. If the student has submitted a Word document, download the file and make your comments by using "track changes" in Word. Add the edited submission as your feedback.
- Status: Resolved.--Jolaine 11:22, 15 April 2011 (EDT)

Blog
Blog Permissions Default is That Students Can Not Create a New Blog
- Problem: By default, Blogs permissions are set so that students cannot create a new blog.
- Workaround: Click Permissions and under the "create" column, check the box beside Student (and CE Student and Auditor if you have participants with those roles).
- Status: Resolved, but older courses may still see the problem. New courses created from Summer 2011 on should not exhibit the problem.--Jolaine 10:47, 15 April 2011 (EDT)
Discussions
Can't open Attachments in Discussions
- Problem: If someone adds a file attachment to a Mail or Discussions post, the file will not open if there are spaces in the file name.
- Workaround: Do not attach a document with a space in the file name. Use _ or - instead of spaces. One may also replace the "+" sign in the URL where the space is with a "%20" and this will display the page.
- Status: Resolved in Bambi, June 21, 2011 --Jolaine 08:26, 21 June 2011 (EDT)
Users Get Email When New Post is Made to Discussions
- Problem: The default setting in Discussions is that users get an email notification every time a post is made to a Discussion topic that the user has posted to in the past. This isn't actually a "bug," as this is the common default on discussion board and blogs on the internet, but in large classes the quantity of emails is problematic.
- Workaround: Go to Discussions and click on Watch at the top of the screen. Change your preference to "Do not send notification."
- Status: Default settings has been changed. Resolved. --Jolaine 11:25, 15 April 2011 (EDT)
Gradebook and/or Gradebook 2
Gradebook 2 "Drop Lowest Score(s)" Doesn't Display Properly
- Problem: In Gradebook 2, when dropping the lowest score(s) in a category, zeros that are added by checking the "Give Ungraded No Credit" box are not shown as "dropped." The calculations are accurate, but the zero is not shown in red with a strike through.
- Workaround: Manually insert a 0 for the student
- Status: Under Investigation.
Gradebook Won't Export if Students are Enrolled Who are Not Associated With Roster
- Problem: If you have any students enrolled in your course who are not associated with a roster, for example a CE Student, Student or Auditor that you added manually rather than through the Registrar, Gradebook 2 can not be exported to a .csv or Excel file.
- Workaround: Make the person(s) inactive (Site Info and change the "Active" status to "Inactive" using the drop-down menu beside the person(s) name and click Update at the bottom of the list)and download Gradebook 2. Change the person(s) back to "active" status once the download is complete. If you make the person inactive, his or her postings, grades, submissions, etc., will disappear, but will reappear when the person is made active again. If you have a non-Registrar course where all students are manually enrolled and you need to export to a file, you will need to use Gradebook until this problem with Gradebook 2 is corrected.
- Status: Under investigation.
View Student by Section Does Not Show All Students
- Problem: If you View Students by Section in Gradebook or Gradebook2, in some cases you may not see all the students listed here
- Workaround:
- Go to Site Info and change your role from Instructor to Facilitator using the drop down. Click Update Participants at the bottom of the page.
- Go to Edit Class Rosters and check the "remove" box beside each roster. Click Update.
- Go back to Edit Class Rosters and click Add Rosters. You will see the sections to which you have access listed below. Click Select Anyway at the right side of the screen beside each section that you wish to associate to this site. Follow the prompts to finish the process.
- Go back to Site Info and Change your role from Facilitator to Instructor
- Status: Resolved on Aug 19th 2011,
Tests & Quizzes
T&Q Table of Contents Allows Students to See Their Scores
- Problem: If instructors set up a test to show the Table of Contents, and the "students question and part scores" option is set under feedback (even if "No feedback will be displayed to the student" is chosen), students can see their scores for each question and so can deduce whether or not they got it right and can change their answers while they are taking the test.
- Workaround: Change Feedback by unchecking "students question and part scores." This is now the default setting for all tests. If you do want them to see this part of the feedback after submissions are in, you can go back and check the box later.
- Status: Resolved

"Import" Function in Tests & Quizzes can Corrupt Username
- Problem: In Tests & Quizzes, the "Import" function does not work and can even cause a corrupted username if attempted. The corrupted username could prohibit the user from accessing the Tests & Quizzes tool.
- Workaround: Either create questions one-at-a-time, or cut and paste from a properly formatted text document using the "Create using markup text" option. If you have trouble accessing any aspect of Tests & Quizzes, your username could be corrupted. Contact LSS at (352) 392-4357 option 3, or write learning-support@ufl.edu.
- Status: In the latest update, the Import button was removed to resolved this problem.
